Cats Come Up Big In 4th Quarter
If you’ve been around UK football long enough, it wasn’t that long ago where the Cats would run out of steam in the 4th quarter.
That used to happen for two reasons.
One was not enough depth so the Cats would run out of steam.
The second was an obvious lack of confidence when the game was on the line.
How many times did we used to see UK have something bad happen to them in the 4th quarter and thousands at Commonwealth Stadium would leave the stadium saying, same old Kentucky.
This season UK has outscored the enemy 84—34 in the 4th quarter.
In 2008, UK won that battle 111-66.
In 2007, UK was tops with 119-81.
Nice touch by UK on senior day against Tennessee.
UK will recognize the family of Chris Mosby. Mosby was going to be a Cat, but passed away in an accident on December 31st 2005. This would have been his senior season.
Derrick Locke can make a major jump on Kentucky’s all time rushing list with 100 yards against Rocky Top. That would move the speedy junior from 14th to 10th.
“I didn’t even know about that,” says Locke.
“I’m interested in being involved in big plays.”
If Locke gets 100 yards he passes one of the all time UK greats, Rodger Bird, who ran for UK between 1963–65.
It’s not a stretch to picture Locke finishing his UK career third on the all time list behind Sonny Collins and Moe Williams. Third is Rafael Little.
