Ridge Wilson Is In Jail…..His Future ?

Who knows if Ridge Wilson, who is in jail Tuesday afternoon, will play again for the Cats.

Wilson, a linebacker from Louisville who is one of the top freshman this year, is suspended because he is accused of assaulting a woman on UK’s campus Monday night.

Being fair, let’s let the process play out.

A former Cat, one of my favorites, has his voice from an interview we did early in his UK career ringing in my ears.

When Wesley Woodyard was a pup at UK, I will never forget his answer when I asked him about Rich Brooks.

He kept on using the word “fair”.

“Tough but fair.”

Woodyard, who is doing a great job as the special teams Captain for the Denver Broncos, said that’s all any player wants.

When Stevie Johnson got in trouble, Brooks didn’t flinch.  Many were against the outstanding wide out.  Brooks stayed with Johnson to let the situation play out.

I’ve always thought that Brooks would make a great judge.  His common sense, which is often overlooked in todays sports society is off the charts.

And, if you think about it, as a head football coach, he’s making judgements all the time.  Most of his calls never hit the media.

Under that tough nut exterior, he really cares about his players and people in general.

If there was one piece of advice I’d give Wilson ?

Tell the truth.  Don’t lie to Brooks.
