Blue White Scrimmage
First of all, can we not talk about the possible NCAA secondary violation of chanting recruits names?
Both C.J. Leslie (John Wall’s high school teammate) and Terrence Jones were in attendance. Both received the afore mentioned chant.
My impressions… there is much work to be done. It’s obvious this team is still trying to feel each other out. It was sloppy. There were turnovers.
But there’s an upside. A big one. They are fast. John Wall is legit. Patrick Patterson is the man. And maybe we saw what the players have been talking about with Darnell Dodson’s ability to score.
Deandre Liggins seemed to be working his tail off, especially on the defensive side, but a lot seemed like the same old Liggins. Tons of fouls, turnovers, and some out of control shots.
John Hood kept throwing them up there. He eventually made some… but at one point he was 3-12.
Ramon Harris was 4-5 from downtown, not a bad sign. Patterson hit two 3-pointers as well and both looked like they were going in from the second they left his hand.
You are going to need a little time to adjust to this system if you’re anything like me. It’s totally back and forth. There seems to be no set offense at all… and it looks like if they wanted to, Wall and Bledsoe could drive and shot on every possession. (most of the time I think they would score by the way)
It was fun… but there are kinks. When the top 25 comes out tomorrow, UK will be somewhere in the top 5. They are not that team yet, but they definitely could be!
