Heartbreak Hotel…

Again??? Really???  The streak is now 25.  When will it end?  Will it end?

It’s just so cruel.

I know there are a lot of people out there that don’t want to talk about whether this is Rich Brooks’ final season.  I talked to Dicky Lyons Jr.  tonight during overtime and asked him what he thought about coach.  Dicky said that he’d asked Brooks about trying to come on as a coach and if that would be possible.  Brooks said… you might want to ask Joker.

I don’t know what that means… but Brooks was pretty emotional tonight during the senior day festivities.  He always is… so that alone shouldn’t suggest a lean one way or the other… but the way he looked at times… it was almost as if he was saying goodbye.

Apparently Lane Kiffin said after the game… “It’s still Tennessee and it’s still Kentucky.”

Figures.  He hasn’t been the best at keeping his smart mouth in check at times this year.

I know there are a lot of true blue fans out there tonight who are kicking themselves for starting to believe.  Believe me… there were guys in that lockerroom who feel like they’ve let you down.  They can’t really explain it either.

I’m kind of worn out tonight.  Like most of you, that fumble recovery sealed it for me.  I just knew the Cats were going to win… finally.  I’d been feeling it all week.  Then when they came out so focused in the first half… I just knew it again.  I was wrong on all accounts.

To summarize… this feels awful… I still hope Brooks stays… but that seems unlikely.  With Georgia and South Carolina winning in upsets today… UK finishes fifth in the east instead of second… and now my guess would be another trip to Nashville and the Music City Bowl.

Good stuff Mary Jo. I’ve been following for a long time and was in commonwealth when Jerry C ran Mark Higgs up the middle 3 times in a row from our own 1 yard line . We lost that game too. I wanted Cobb to have the ball on 3rd and 5. However, Rich has brought good football and respectability to KY. He’s done his job and if he’s done then he will always have my gratitude.
